Allison Miller’s Boom Tic Boom – NPR Tiny Desk Concert

Today’s video is Allison Miller’s Boom Tic Boom, performing live in the NPR offices as part of their Tiny Desk Concert series.  If you’re unfamiliar with it, basically musicians from all genres stop by the NPR offices and perform around the desk of All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen.

Miller got on my radar a few years ago with her 2010 release Boom Tic Boom, a solid album that just seemed to get better with time.  Though definitely a recording reflective of modern times, there was something about the music, and especially her style on drums, that echoed the hard bop excitement of the 60s.  She’s got a new album coming out soon, which will be seeing print here in the very near future, so it seemed like a nice time to feature her music in a video.

Your video personnel:  Allison Miller (drums), Todd Sickafoose (bass), Marty Ehrlich (sax), and Dan Tepfer (piano).

P.S.  That new Miller album is called No Morphine, No Lilies, and while I don’t have a review pub date set yet, don’t wander too far from my url, ’cause it’s coming soon.

Have a great Sunday!
