Good god, Edition Records knows how to make a gorgeous promo video (aka Verneri Pohjola has a new album coming out soon)

Have you ever found yourself gazing with adoration at a spread of ECM Records album covers spread out across the table, just drowning yourself in each beautiful image.  Well, Edition Records is going to make that seem like a naive childhood infatuation if they keep raising the bar like this with their promo videos.

Just take a look at this shit…

I mean, how gorgeous is that?  Want more?  Guess what… there is more.

Trumpeter Verneri Pohjola and percussionist Mika Kallio put together an improvised soundtrack for the documentary Animal Image from Perttu Saksa.

Here’s some stuff from the press release.  While you read this, I’m going to go watch that video again.

The movie depicts nature-photographer and writer Heikki Willamo’s journey to the landscape of the post ice-age northern wilderness to explore man’s ancient relationship to his prey and Willamo’s personal encounters with the inhabitants of the northern woods. Man, bear, sky and fire: the Finnish forest is a place like nowhere else, a place of dreams and the imagination, an ancient place where its denizens live in the shadows.

And, as you might have guessed, if there’s more video, that must mean there’s more music.  There is.  The album Animal Image is getting released February 23rd, 2018 on Edition Records, featuring thirty seven minutes of exactly this kind of beauty.

Here’s a preview track from that album.

Your album personnel:  Verneri Pohjola (trumpet, electronics) and Mika Kallio (drums, gongs).

Learn more about the album and pre-order it on the artist’s Bandcamp page.
