Preview “Verisimilitude,” the upcoming release from Tyshawn Sorey

Drummer & composer Tyshawn Sorey has a new album coming out this Summer.  Verisimilitude is hitting the streets August 4th, 2017 on Pi Recordings.

I can’t emphasize strongly enough how necessary it is for you to check out the music of Tyshawn Sorey.  The guy is on this creative trajectory that is transcending any type of categorization.  Nothing he’s done over his last few recordings sounds normal and not all of it is going to appeal to everybody, but it’s during phases like the one Sorey is currently immersed in when tiny sonic miracles can come to life and, perhaps, be one of the most magical things you’ve ever heard.

Here’s a preview of what’s to come…

Your album personnel:  Tyshawn Sorey (drums, percussion), Cory Smythe (piano, toy piano, electronics) and Chris Tordini (bass).

You can learn more about the album and pre-order it on the artist’s Bandcamp page.

The album is also available on Amazon.

UPDATE:  I’ve selected this album as one of my Best of Bandcamp Jazz recommendations.  Go read about it on The Bandcamp Daily.
