These are videos that I like: Wolfert Brederode, on a train, on a boat, at the Bimhuis

wolfert-brederode-trio-black-iceWe’ve got two featured videos today, both courtesy of the Wolfert Brederode Quartet.

Later today, I’ll be posting the first of two columns giving a rundown of some recent ECM Records releases.  Black Ice, the 2016 release from the Wolfert Brederode Trio, will be included among them.

Unfortunately, the only videos out there are with him as a quartet and supporting his 2011 release Post Scriptum.  It’s not a huge distance between his sound back then and his newest, but as a piano trio, with no wind instruments, the music does have a different personality.  So be sure to check back in later today.

In the meantime, here’s those videos…

The first song is “Inner Dance.”  It’s takes place at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam.  I’ve featured many videos from this location.  Typically those windows have a wide view of trains and the city and passing traffic, which I’m a sucker for.

The second video is from the Wolfert Brederode Quartet and the song “Angelico.”  Some dude attached the song to his home footage of traveling by train and boat.  The sound isn’t always great, but, y’know, footage of traveling by train and boat is gonna get a video featured exactly 100% of the time.

The album Post Scriptum is available for purchase at Amazon.

And you can learn more about the album at ECM Records and listen to an album track on their site (LINK).

And a reminder, later today I’ll be posting the first of two rundowns of recent ECM Records releases.
