My new Jazz Picks are up at eMusic

 

As most of you are aware, I write a weekly column for eMusic.com that gives a rundown of the best of the new Jazz releases each week (my Jazz Picks).

Anyways, they’ve just been posted up on the eMusic site HERE.

Notable albums from this week’s article are:

Dietschi-Oliver Quartet - "Parallax"Enrico Bassi - "Libera Muziko Viro Potenco"

 

 

 

 

… and a bunch of other solid albums.  About 14 recs in all this week, favoring albums that’ll make the straight-ahead jazz fan happy (though there are a couple avant-garde and free jazz selections in there to keep things interesting).

New Tumblr Work Space post: Chris Schlarb

 

As mentioned previously, I’ve begun a Bird is the Worm Tumblr page, which I’ve been referring to as Work Space.  It will be a series of photos of artist work spaces… the places where the creative process takes shape and form.  It will also usually include some embedded audio of the artist’s latest project and some various linking to other sites.

Happy 87th Birthday to Boyd Lee Dunlop

 

Pianist Boyd Lee Dunlop will be celebrating his 87th birthday with a June 26th, 2013 show at Larkin Square in Buffalo, NY.

A review of his sophomore release The Lake Reflections (and a Tiny Review of his debut album) can be found HERE, at Bird is the Worm.  It’s wonderful music and a heartwarming story, so please go give it a read.  And if you’re in Buffalo on June 26th, go see the show.
