These are videos that I like: Tyrant Lizard and The Westerlies, KNKX Live Studio Sessions

Today’s featured videos come courtesy of public radio KNKX Live Studio Sessions out of Seattle, WA.  They’ve got a regular series where they invite musicians, both local and touring, to swing by the set and play some tunes.

First up is the trio Tyrant Lizard, whose self-titled debut was yesterday’s daily recommendation.  Here they are performing the opening track to that album, “Stegosaurus.”

Your video personnel:  Greg Belisle-Chi (guitar), Carmen Rothwell (bass) and Ray Larsen (trumpet).

If you want to check out our recommendation, then follow the (LINK).

And if you just want to skip the write-up and go buy their album right now (and, if you want, listen to more of it), you can do so at the artist’s Bandcamp page.

It appears the Westerlies stopped by the KNKX studios, too.  Here they are performing the song “The Shop,” which sources from their sophomore release, the self-titled The Westerlies.

Your video personnel:  Riley Mulherkar (trumpet), Zubin Hensler (trumpet), Andy Clausen (trombone) and Willem de Koch (trombone).

I included the Westerlies latest album in my recent Best of Bandcamp Jazz column.

But if you want to skip that write-up and just go purchase (or listen to more of the album), you can do so at the artist’s Bandcamp page.

You can also read the write-up of their debut album, which earned the #13 slot on this site’s Best of 2014 list.

And check out more live in-studio performances on the KNKX YouTube page.
